Amazing Grace

“How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found Was blind but now I see
When we’ve been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’ve first begun Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come ‘Tis Grace has brought me safe thus far And Grace will lead me home.” Song and  Lyrics  by John Newton, reformed slave trader.
I have gone to funerals all my life it feels like.  I remember attending funerals with my mom as a little girl.  I wasn’t even tall enough to see inside of the coffin.  And then I grew up.  I recently attended a funeral that I would call a family members home going celebration.  We have all fallen short but thank God for amazing grace.  I’ve heard this song at many funerals.  Gods amazing grace is a safety net when our life decisions aren’t the best.  And even at the end of ones life.

Family Members Home Going Celebration

May your soul rest peacefully in the realm of time.  A guest minister lead the service  like usual.  About half way throw the service a granddaughter did a praise dance.  Then three more granddaughters did another praise dance.  A granddaughter read a poem, A daughter sang a song and then another granddaughter sang another song.  The youngest son gave the eulogy, which was beautiful and the oldest son said closing prayer.  The widower drove himself to the cemetery and a great-grandson helped put dirt on top of coffin.  This home going celebration was uniquely filled with family love, like I’ve not seen before.  Amazing grace how sweet the sound.
